Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

All praise and all glory belongs to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala - glory be to Him, the Most High), Rabbil-alamin (the Lord of the Worlds), Ar-Rahman (the Most Gracious), Ar-Rahim (the Most Merciful), Maliki yawmid-din (Master of the Day of Judgement), Al-Alim (the All-Knowing), Al-Hakim (the All-Wise),

Rabbul Arshil Azeem (Lord of the Mighty Throne);

Who sent His beloved Messenger and Prophet, Muhammad, Rasoolullah, (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), al-Habib (the beloved), Mustafa (the chosen one), al-Amin (the trustworthy), as-Sadiq (the honest), Khatam an-Nabiyyin (the Seal of the Prophets – the Last of the Prophets), with the truth:

La ilaha ill-Allah, Muhammad-ur-rasoolullah.

(Sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger.

(Sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)

This site is dedicated to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala - glory be to Him, the Most High). He and He alone knows everything – nothing is hidden from him. In the Holy Qur’an he says:

“He knows what (is) in the heavens and the earth, and He knows what you conceal and what you declare. And Allah (is) All-knowing.”                                                          Surah Al-Taghabun 4. (Qur’anic Arabic Corpus) [1]

His beloved Angels (Alayhim as-salam - may the peace of Allah be upon them) spoke the truth when they said:

“Qalu sub’hanaka la il’ma lana illa ma ‘allamtana innaka anta l-‘alimu l-hakimu.” Surah Al-Baqarah 32 (Qur’anic Arabic Corpus) [2]

“They said, “Glory be to You! No knowledge for us except what You have taught us. Indeed You! You (are) the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.”                                               Surah Al-Baqarah 32 (Qur’anic Arabic Corpus) [3]

“They (angels) said: ‘Glory is to You, we have no knowledge except what you have taught us. Verily, it is You, the All-Knower, the All-Wise.’ "                                        Surah Al-Baqarah 32 (Al-Hilali and Khan, no date, p.27) [4]

“They said, ‘To You belongs all purity! We have no knowledge except what You have given us. Surely, You alone are the all-knowing, all-wise!' ”

Surah Al-Baqarah 32 (Shafi, 2009, p.159) [5]

Subhana rabbiyal azeem – How glorious is my Lord, the Great;

Subhana rabbiyal a’la – All glory be to My Lord, the Most High.

Subhana rabbiyal a’la – All glory be to My Lord, the Most High – is the tasbih that Rasoolullah (Sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) instructed the Sahabah (Radi Allahu Ta’ala’anhum – may Allah be pleased with them) to recite in their sujud[6]following the revelation of the first verse of Surah Al-A’la.

Surah Al-A’la is often classed as one of the Musabbihat Surahs. They are defined as being those Surahs which begin with the glorification of Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala - glory be to Him, the Most High).

According to Mufti Muhammad Shafi: “It is recorded in Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi and Nasa'i that Sayyidna 'Irbad Ibn Sariyah (Radi Allahu Ta’ala’anhu – may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu alayhi wa-sallam - may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to recite Al-Musabbihat before he went to sleep and said: ‘In them there is a verse that is more meritorious than a thousand verses.’ The collective name of the series Al-Musabbihat refers to the following five Surahs: [1] Al-Hadid; [2] Al-Hashr; [3] As-Saff; [4] Jumu'ah; and [5] At-Taghabun.

“Having cited this Hadith, Ibn Kathir says that the best verse referred to in Surah Al-Hadid is verse [3] ‘He is the First and the Last, and the Manifest and the Hidden, and He is

All-Knowing about everything.’ [57:3]” [7]

“Among the five Surahs, the first three, namely Al-Hadid, Al-Hashr and As-Saff commence with the past perfect tense sabbaha (purity has been proclaimed) whilst the last two, namely Al-Jumu’ah and Al-Taghabun commence with the imperfect tense  namely Al-Jumu'ah and Al-Taghabun commence with the imperfect tense yusabbihu (purity is proclaimed). This implies that the purity of Allah should be declared at all times, the past, the present and the future. [Mazhari]
